Rob Dolan takes home trophy for best white wine at Korea Wine Challenge

Rob Dolan Wines are cheering to another award this week after taking home the top position of all white wines in show for its 2019 White Label Chardonnay at the Korea Wine Challenge (KWC).

“It’s bloody brilliant” said Dolan, who took home one of only 7 trophies from a total of 888 submitted worldwide. “This was a real team wine. The fruit comes from one of the most prized vineyards in the Yarra Valley, and every single winemaker played a big hand in making it the complex, structured and refined chardonnay that was achieved. I’m so proud of the team,” Dolan said.

KWC is considered the top source for identifying global wine trends in Korea and uses the competition to select the best quality wines for the Korean palate. Meg Brodtmann, Master of Wine and Head of Education and Global Outreach at Rob Dolan Wines says it’s encouraging to see this style of chardonnay take home top place in such a competition. “We know Korea is a maturing market, and where we may see similar markets focused on big block buster reds, it’s brilliant to see wines with elegance taking home the top positions. They’re appreciating and rewarding wines with restraint.”

“We were competing against 21 countries with some very-well known and awarded white wines. I think the Chardonnay did well as it is the perfect example of what the Yarra Valley does best – restrained, elegant Chardonnay from our cool climate,” Brodtmann said.

This win sits among two other bronze medals in the show, and is the latest in a series of significant wins for Rob Dolan Wines, most recently taking home the trophy for best in show for Cabernet/Cabernet Blends at the Hong Kong International Wine Show.
