2022 MARSANNE

Marsanne is an unsung hero in Victorian wine, originally from the Rhone Valley in France. Like Chardonnay, it can take many forms, and can age a treat.

Smell: musk sticks, honeysuckle, orange blossom
Taste: chamomile, saffron, textured, crisp acid
Cellar: 2 – 10 years
Great for: umami-bomb laden dishes, like rich miso-butter coated noodles in a rich pork broth
Nutrition: Vegan, 84 calories per 120ml glass

Made from grapes from Tallarook Vineyard, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range by Rob Dolan, Adrian Santolin + the team.

The grapes were hand-harvested and whole bunch pressed. Clear juice racked to oak for ferment, matured on lees for 9 months prior to bottling.

Rob Dolan is known for his skill in the winery, passion for helping others, and cheeky character.

He says the trick is sourcing the best fruit, and from there, using a ‘less is more’ approach in the winery to bring the wine it to its full expression.

PAIR WITH soft shell crab sliders with kohlrabi remoulade

The lively flavour of citrus fruits alongside the round and generous texture of the Marsanne compliment the briny, delicate sweetness of the crab meat.
