Big Roast for Cystic Fibrosis
July 26 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm$140
While we creep out of ISO, we remember those who can’t. Join us by gathering your nearest and dearest for a lunch to remember in support for the Cystic Fibrosis community.
The Big Roast is inspired by the Bowness family from Healesville who have two children Liam, 13 and Grace, 12 with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Grace once accidentally referred to cystic fibrosis as “sixty five roasters” which led Grace’s mother, Kirsty Bowness, to the idea of holding a roast during the month of July to raise money for The Royal Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust (RCHCFRT). Rob Dolan’s wife, Jude Dolan, has taught both children at their primary school at St Brigid’s Catholic Primary.
Due to Covid-19, the cystic fibrosis community must continue abiding by strict lockdown rules due to their immunities being compromised. This means that until there is a vaccine, many will have to continue living in isolation while seeing the rest of Australia slowly begin returning to the new normal as restrictions ease. So for this year’s annual event, we’re standing with them by asking people to host their own lunches from their own homes with their own families.
This collective lunch is to be held on Sunday 26th of July, 2020. The cost to register is $140 and includes your host pack that will have everything you need to get started. It includes recipe cards for the perfect Sunday roast created by local café and wine bar, Milk & Wine Co. You will also receive 1 x 2018 Rob Dolan Black Label Blanc de Blanc, 1 x 2018 Rob Dolan White Label Pinot Noir, 1 x 2016 Rob Dolan White Label Cabernet Sauvignon, which will pair perfectly to the meal. 5 x raffle tickets valued at $20 to go in the running to win one of our exciting prizes will also be included in the pack and we encourage you to purchase additional raffle tickets to increase your chances! You will also have the opportunity to participate in the host’s only online auction with exciting items on offer, all generously donated by local producers and businesses. The first 100 hosts that register will also receive a candle for the table donated by Kedis, a small bottle of Rare Dry Gin donated by Four Pillars Gin for your pre-lunch cocktails and finally, a Rob Dolan apron because if you cook anything like Rob, you’ll need one!
The pack includes enough wine for approximately 4-6 people so we recommend when registering for the pack, you purchase any additional wine you may need via the wine shop on our website. It will all be sent together.
In an exciting addition this year, guests will have the opportunity to hear from Australian Survivor champ (2017 & 2019) and Australian fan favourite, Luke Toki in the host’s only Facebook group. Raising funds for the RCHCFRT is a cause close to his heart, as his youngest child was diagnosed with CF at birth. His story is one not to be missed.
$50 from every registration will be donated directly to the Royal Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust. The funds raised from this event will contribute to increasing the life expectancy of sufferers and hopefully, one day, finding a cure.
There is no limit to how many people can participate on the day and we’re excited to see Australians do what we do best, support one another through the good and the bad times. You can register by purchasing the ticket below.
If you are unable to host your own lunch on the day, you can donate directly here.
